Cherokee Nation Rehabilitation Services provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology services. Providers strive to deliver patient-centered, evidenced based care to help each individual meet their goals and maximize function.

Health Centers providing physical therapy services include:

  • Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center (Tahlequah)
  • Redbird Smith Health Center (Sallisaw)
  • Sam Hider Health Center (Jay)
  • Three Rivers Health Center (Muskogee)
  • Vinita Health Center
  • Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center (Stilwell)

Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center in Tahlequah is currently the only site that offers occupational therapy and speech language pathology.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists are experts in movement who work to enhance a person's quality of life through personalized exercise programs, manual therapy, and patient education. Our doctorate level physical therapists treat individuals of all ages from newborns to adulthood.

  • Vestibular and balance rehabilitation

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps individuals across their lifespan, to do the things they want and need through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent, or live better with, injury, illness, or disability.

Common occupational therapy interventions include:

  • Helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations
  • Helping individuals recovering from injury to regain skills
  • Providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes

Speech Language Pathology

Our Speech-language Pathologist’s provide evaluation and treatment for individuals of all ages following an illness, injury or developmental delay. Our master’s-level, certified speech-language pathologists have extensive training in childhood and adult speech, feeding/swallowing, and language disorders such as:

  • Aphasia
  • Articulation / speech disorders
  • Attention, memory, ability to problem-solve, pragmatics
  • Expressive language disorders
  • Fluency disorders - Stuttering, cluttering
  • Motor speech disorders - Dysarthria, apraxia
  • Neurological disorders
  • Receptive language disorders
  • Swallowing disorders - Dysphagia
