PGY-1

The PGY-1 curriculum consists of 13, four-week block rotations:

  • • Three blocks of Inpatient Teaching Service
  • • One block of OMM Clinic
  • • One block of Emergency Medicine
  • • One block of Outpatient Procedures
  • • One block of Inpatient Pediatrics
  • • One block of Ambulatory Pediatrics
  • • One block of OBGYN
  • • One block of Labor & Delivery nights (hospital only)
  • • One block of POCUS
  • • One block of Diabetes/Population Health
  • • Four weeks of Elective rotation 

 

PGY-2

The PGY-2 curriculum consists of 13, four-week block rotations:

  • • One block of Emergency Medicine
  • • Two blocks of Inpatient Teaching Service
  • • One block of Sports Medicine/Orthopedics (two weeks each)
  • • One block of Wound Care
  • • One block of Radiology/Podiatry (2 weeks each)
  • • One block of Ambulatory Pediatrics
  • • One block of OBGYN
  • • One block of Addiction Medicine
  • • One block of Psychiatry
  • • One block of Geriatrics
  • • Two blocks of Elective Rotations

PGY-3

The PGY-3 curriculum consists of 13, 4-week block rotations:

  • • Four blocks of Selective IM Rotations; may choose from the following: 
           •  Cardiology
           •  Infectious Diseases
           •  Pulmonology
           •  Gastroenterology
           •  Rheumatology
           •  Neurology
           •  Nephrology
  • • One block of Inpatient Pediatrics
  • • One block of ENT
  • • One block of Business in Medicine
  • • One block of Inpatient Teaching Service (nights)
  • • Four blocks of Elective Rotations

Elective Rotations

Residents are allowed to have elective rotations at sites outside Cherokee Nation Health Services. Residents on outside elective rotations are expected to maintain clinic and academic obligations unless approval is given.

Continuity Clinic

PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents will have one full day of clinic each week, while PGY-3 residents will have two days each week.

OMM/Procedures Clinic

On Friday mornings, two specialty clinics are hosted in Resident Clinic: OMM Clinic and Procedures Clinic. During each year of training, residents will cover these clinics on a rotational basis. Patients from all Cherokee Nation Health Services’ clinic sites are referred to Resident Clinic for these services.
